I had a dream I was getting ready to do a pagan ritual. I'm wiccan in real life, which is a branch of paganism. Anyway, I was getting ready to do a big huge pagan ritual to banish my old legal name from my life, which I was considering doing in real life. I changed my name to Angela almost 3 years ago now, but now I realize I like the name Stacey better, so now I’m working on changing it to Stacey. and sometimes, my family will still use the name Mallory, which is my old legal name. So I was trying to banish it in the ritual, and somehow I got my dad to help. I dictated in the dream phrases like, Mallory is dead to me. This name is taboo. No one is allowed to say it, etc. Then I woke up before I could ever conduct the ritual.

AI generated interpretation In your dream, engaging in a pagan ritual to banish your old legal name represents a deep desire for transformation and a need for closure regarding your former identity. As a Wiccan and someone who has already changed their name, you are already familiar with the significance of rituals and the power they hold in facilitating personal growth. The presence of your father in the dream suggests a desire for support and validation from your family in this process of self-discovery and reinvention. Collaborating with your father in the ritual indicates a need for his acceptance and understanding. It is possible that you may be longing for a sense of unity and connection within your family, especially regarding your chosen name. The phrases you dictate in the dream, such as "Mallory is dead to me" and "This name is taboo," reflect your strong determination to sever ties with your old legal name. They represent a symbolic declaration of your intention to fully embrace your new identity as Stacey and to distance yourself from any remnants of your previous self. However, the fact that the dream ends before you could conduct the ritual suggests some unresolved feelings or uncertainty about fully letting go of your old name. Overall, this dream signifies your need for closure and acceptance as you continue to navigate your identity transformation. It may be helpful to have open and honest conversations with your family about your chosen name and your reasons for wanting to banish your old name. This can foster understanding and support, ultimately assisting you in fully embracing your new identity as Stacey.
