Lost voice during phone interview

Very important interview with a job I’ve been wanting for a really long time. I was answering questions really confidently and suddenly my throat started hurting. I coughed a few times and begged his pardon and then he asked me a pretty important question. Suddenly the words would not come out, Just like a little murmur from my throat. I was freaking out because I could not even explain to him why I was not answering
