Nordic Ice

Jasper and I had announced to our loved ones that we were getting married. Everyone was ecstatic. Brittney, an old college roommate whom I haven't spoken with in years in the waking world, appeared in my dream, saying that she'd like to help with planning our wedding. I was happy to reconnect and suggested we go for a hike to catch up. She asked if I knew any special spots and I pulled out my cell phone, flipping trough old pictures. I came across a set that showed an icy wonderland, photos of my and my other girlfriend floating in a body of glacier water glowing all hues of magnificent blues from the sky and yellows from the sun. There was a long set of photos zooming in on the water itself, showing the tiny formations of ice melting in the corners and the soft indents of the current pulling it along. I knew that was the spot to go. I brought Brittney out to the cove where the ice began. In my dream the portal to get here was in San Francisco, a city that I lived in for many years during my young adult life. Quickly I could see the abrupt change in scenery. Behind us were the faint outlines of eucalyptus trees of the lost coast, and the foggy haze surrounding the Golden Gate Bridge. Ahead of me was a small beach of light tan sand that lead to series of massive glacier formations. They towered over my on either side, separated by a river that was mostly open water but still carried melting ice chunks on it that opened up to an endless ocean. It was December, so the water was much colder than the first time I found this spot in September. I kicked off my sandals and stepped into the icy current, feeling the cold simultaneously go numb and then a fiery burning sensation. It wasn't unbearable, just a reminder to keep my heart above the water. I was mesmerized by the marvelous and brilliant blues captured within the ice formations, and the patterns the current was forming in the river as I waded further out. I looked up to the horizon, now completely forgotten of where I was or who I was with. I felt as if I had crossed into another world entirely. A distant melodic sound echoed off in the distance, and as I looked further out is are a narwhal breaching. Both excitement and a familiarity of this place filled my lungs. The air was light and crisp along my bare skin. The sky stretched over me like a dome, and the sun was both bright and soft, much different than I know if to be in California. As I waded back to shore, I couldn't remember if I had kept my sandals on or off. Right before the ground sloped up to shore, I dipped completely under the icy water to take a peek behind me. When I submerged my head, it was as if a wind tunnel of water was swirling around me. The water almost churned in its rotations. At the end of the tunnel was a soft grey abyss. There was no urge to get more breath, so I studied the mysterious patterns of the undercurrent for what seemed like a few minutes. I woke before I made i walked out of the water. *** Does anyone know of a place like this? I regularly dream in color but this dream was so vivid that as I was waking up I lay in bed some time confused if this was a place I had actually visited or just dreamt it. I haven't been to a place anywhere like it in my current lifetime, but would love to hear any opinions. Blessings,
