Indian food

I was at my step dad’s house, which was kind of a mansion on a large piece of property. At one point a guy and a girl came up and asked him if they could eat the food in his trash. He said sure and they grabbed a bunch of discarded food and started eating it. The guy, who was tall and blonde, walked over to me and said “Do you eat indian food?” and he was referring to food from the garbage, I guess “indian food” was a nickname for food from the trash. He was making it seem like he was playing a game because he was ashamed that they were eating discarded food and I felt bad for them.
