Puzzle rooms

Carolyn was having a sale of all her things at a mall. It was like a proper store, not a yard sale. I thought she must have been secretly hoarding things for years. I bought a potato peeler and a spatula. We accidentally left behind a metal box with a pet lizard that belonged to my grandmother. When we went back, the storekeeper said it had been sold for $10 to a girl named Raven. I set out on a quest to get it back. I was in a puzzle room created by Girl Guides. When I put my hand into a slot in the wall, it was printed with an ornate gold circular pattern and a gold times counting down from one minute. Me and a friend had to put on a uniform (grey bucket hat and white shirt with the text printed backwards) from a set of lockers. With the uniform on, we could be transported upwards. There we got another hand stamp with a longer timer. We did a lot in this upstairs region. I had a car in neutral I was pushing along a road for some reason. There were islands in a lake, but the water was just a floor we could walk on. The sky was painted onto a wall. When we peeled off the wallpaper, we saw handwritten notes from people who had done the puzzle before. In an upstairs chamber, there were patterns and a cutout. When we aligned a cutout with a corresponding shape, a small circle on the other side of the room would give a hint. It was not possible to solve the puzzle before time ran out. We realized that we needed to learn enough to be able to get through the rooms faster and faster each time, finding shortcuts, until we could complete it in time. Knowing we couldn’t do more in this run, we walked along a cliff towards the next site. Outside the puzzle rooms, I saw a display about the history of the girl guides. There was a poster about their patriotic flag. One display panel looked to be incomplete, with underlines and vertical lines but no text. I realized that this was also part of the puzzle, and another hint. Later, I was playing Overwatch (Symmetra in King’s Row) and I kept getting overwhelmed by large metal scarabs shooting fire behind them. I realized that this belonged to players who had already completed the puzzles from earlier. Unrelated: I was making a sausage pie, and a murderer wanted a taste before it went into the oven.
