Ali sets off to go to town in her car. I am at home with Thandi. Soon the neighbours car comes up the drive. It is a big four wheel drive and looks a bit like a tank. It is followed by Ali’s car, which is driven by someone else. The neighbour has driven Ali home because she started feeling unwell while she was driving to town. I ask Thandi to take Ali inside. There is actually a large group of people that have driven Ali home, including a black guy. I accidentally get into the wrong car because it is large and white like mine. It belongs to one of the people that have driven Ali home, it is it guy I used to work with briefly at Pelorus Lodge. I say hi and tell him that I think Carol is dead, he already knows. It gets me thinking about whether somebody still owes me money for working at the Lodge, because I have done a little bit of work there recently. I asked Simon Davidson if he still owes me some money but then remember he’s paid me in cash. (The scene has changed to the main road through a village ) Carl Davidson and I sit together on a wooden fence rail on a bend, outside a shop. It sags down a lot and then breaks. I think how stupid it was to stay sitting on it when it was obviously going to break. I have a look at it to see if I could put it back together but the Australian hardwood plank has fractured into many pieces, so I just lay them next to the fence for someone else to clean up. 🌅
