I started this but forgot to finish and post it the other day, but in this dream I was doing security rounds of all the floors at my old job building downtown and noticed while walking down the stairwell that I could see into the individual elevator shafts. I saw the cars moving up and down along with the corresponding cables and counterweights, but one in particular seemed to be malfunctioning. It was stuck and could only go up about 10ft before shaking a little bit and then going back down 10ft and doing the same. It was stuck in this pattern loop. I assumed Bruce the maintenance guy already knew and so I didn't call it in and kept on walking when suddenly I heard a snap and realized one of the main cables of it had broken loose. My initial thoughts were 'ohhh crap, is this gonna fall?' I have this fear irl that translates into dreams as well of being on faulty elevators that end up just falling and me dying inside. Not a way I'd like to die that's for sure. Anyway the thing is now dangling by one cable and swinging a little from one side of the shaft to the other while hitting the sides of it. And then the other one snaps and it just freefalls to the very bottom until I hear a very loud crash and a BOOOOM!! It was terrifying to say the least, but I was beyond thankful I wasn't on it. I rushed down to the lobby to find dust had been blown out into the area from the crash. There were some people around but not very many since it was the Memorial holiday. I did notice Molly was around, a friend of my late great grandmother, and she was a firefighter. How convenient cos we're definitely in need of her service. Larry my old supervisor from that job was there along with Bruce, so all the people that I would've needed to call were already there. I remember overhearing how nobody was on that elevator thanks to no one working today, but had it not been... It would've been a terrible tragedy given that it's Monday morning and would be packed with employees. I ended up waking up shortly after that.
