Sad Things about the World, Performing, and Back to School

I was in New York with my family, although it looked like a normal neighborhood. My parents were in a house somewhere, and my sister and I were lost. We wandered the streets, but it seemed like nowhere was safe. First we ran into a Black Lives Matter protest. Then we ended up in a line of homeless black people who were receiving shelter, and they yelled at us for being white and in the line. Luckily my sister and I found this house where these country folk were have a cookout and let us have some of their food. There, we called our parents to find our way to the house. There, my mom was talking about how she wanted a dog, but I started listing all the reasons why that was a bad idea because we have two cats. She was disappointed. I was then at a different house with my sister, who had gone to bed. It was my friend Cody’s house. We were in the living room when he left to get food and I was finally alone. I buried my face in my hands and began to cry, remembering all the horrible things I had seen that day such as a homeless black woman and her baby in a box, peeing on the ground. People begging for food. Protesting. Cody asked if I was okay, and I tried to act like I was fine, but he gave me a hug and we stayed like that. The dream shifted and I was doing a performance. It was a mix of girls from my old dance company and people from my old theater company. I was a part of a dance number for the performance, and my high school crush was there and I really wanted to impress him. However, the stage turned into kind of a trampoline, and when I tried to dance I couldn’t do it right. I felt so embarrassed because it didn’t effect anyone else’s dancing. I was then a part of the dance mom’s group, and I remember something happened between me, Abby, Nia, and Holly. We were doing an Indian dance in Indian costumes. My friend Jill had tried to join the team but realized how hard dancing is. The dream ended with me back in school, and I was heading to one of my classes. It was outside, and I was a half hour early, so I planned on getting some work done. The teacher was already there with some other students and she had us start coloring on construction paper. She was really nice.
