Dreamt that my friend Jalicard, Jali for short, and I were actually siblings by blood. The two of us were also shapeshifters who could modify our looks how we pleased. Which worked as we often did thespian work in our town. We never used our abilities to gain an upper hand in whatever theatre performance we were part of. Just used it so we could help where any gaps might be in the theatre. Sometimes it was cast. Sometimes it was the crew. What mattered to us was that we got paid in the end. Jali and I were both actors in some new musical. We were playing a sailor and the captain respectively. Jali really got in character as the captain. One of the others playing part of her crew had become my friend. His name was Angelo. He was tall and gorgeous and had a fairly kind heart. However, he was also stubborn. By the end of our last performance of the weekend he was breathing a bit heavy and sweating more than normal. I'd made sure to keep close and thank goodness I had. He'd nearly fainted before the curtain dropped. I helped him back stage and to one of the chairs. Eventually the rest of the cast joined us after the applause. "We were waiting on you Mar, but your sis told us not to." One girl, I think her name was Shelby, told me as she came back. "Yeah, sorry, I was helping Angelo." I told her as I watched the temp on the thermometer rise, "I just barely got him to agree to a temp check." Angelo glared at me as he waited for the temp to be recorded. Jali soon joined us as other cast members shuffled to get makeup off or get out of costumes. "Jali, catch!" I tossed the truck keys to her and she caught them with ease, "Can you start the truck? We gotta get Angelo to the hospital." "Will do, lemme get my bag." She went over to the changing area and grabbed her bag, checking it to make sure everything was still in it. "Mar, Jali, what's going on?" Our theatre director, Madam Lebeau, called out as Jali headed to the truck. I took the thermometer from Angelo's lips to show a 101.3°F fever to her, "We're running him to the emergency room." "Goodness. And he was on stage today?" She looked at Angelo who shifted his gaze to the floor, "You really gotta worry about your health, hon." Angelo just nodded. Madam Lebeau pat his shoulder before walking off to let the others know what was going on. "Can you walk?" I asked Angelo, holding out a hand to him. "With assistance," He admitted as grabbed my hand.  I helped him to his feet, wrapped an arm around to steady him, and helped him out to the truck. He grunted in annoyance a couple of times but he mostly just fought to stay conscious. Once at the truck, I helped him get in the back of the truck cabin and sat beside him. "Everyone buckled?" Jali grinned, clearly teasing me since she was getting to drive my new truck. I checked us both over and nodded. Angelo was already leaning against me again cuz of the fever. I could feel heat rise to my cheeks as he gripped my hand, squeezing here and there as if he were in pain. "I'll drive carefully brother. Don't worry." She smirked and took us towards the nearest emergency room. The ride wasn't long but it felt like it. Angelo didn't let go of my hand the whole drive. We finally reached the ER and I helped him inside. He was so sluggish that I had to carry him on my back just to get him inside. "Angelo, I need you to talk to me," I stated as he pressed his forehead against the back of my neck, "How are you feeling? Stuff like that so I know what to tell them." "Really cold. Dizzy. Thirsty. Too dizzy to walk." He muttered. I repeated that to the receptionist who got a wheelchair for him. He steadily got to his feet and I helped him into the wheelchair. He slowly gave her his information and she got him checked in. Jali eventually got a decent parking spot and joined us inside. Angelo had to explain to the doctors that we were the closest thing he had to family cuz he was an orphan. Time went by. He was getting checked over. I gave all the info I had about the incident. Jali and I were made to stay in the waiting area at first. After some time they let us back to see him. Angelo apparently had been in a car crash before the performance. Although minor damage was done to the car, there had still been some damage to him. He had a slight kidney infection. That's what was causing his fever and dizziness. On top of that, he was greatly dehydrated. So they wanted to keep him on IV drip with some fluids to rehydrate and heal. Jali had an early work day so she called a friend to get back home. Left me my truck keys though. I stayed with Angelo. He'd taken to holding onto my hand again. Like if he let go, I'd just leave. Time flew by. Angelo was discharged and told to get lots of rest. Doctor's orders. I took him home. Madam Lebeau came by later with our bags that we'd left the previous night. I thanked her, she wished him well, and headed out. Weeks went by and he finally was back to his normal self. With one key difference, he'd become quite clingy to me. "I think you have an admirer, dear brother," Jali teased me one day.  "Yeah… which isn't easy on my poor gay heart," I put a hand to my heart for dramatic effect. "What will you do?" Jali finished tying her hair back in a tight bun, a rare hairstyle of choice. I groaned and flopped back on her bed, "I don't know. Maybe take on my female appearance for the day, see if he recognizes me or not, and find out if this is just strictly admiration for getting him to the ER that day or if this is something else." Jali gave me a very annoyed glance and said "Please get your drama off my bed," She did some light makeup before adding, "Will you need me to help you with the change?" "I should be good. My clothes should still fit from last time." I said as I stood up and stretched my arms, "I just hope things work out well in the end. We never told him what we are." "With good reason. Our kind has been hunted to near extinction." Jali glared but sighed, "I know you like him. Just be careful." "I will. I promise." We hugged before I headed to the main bathroom. I grabbed a female change of clothes from my room, stripped down, turned on the shower, and climbed in. The light chill of the water helped as bones crunched and cracked. As my body reshaped itself from a male anatomy to a female one. Once my body was done reshaping itself, I turned up the heat in the shower. I began scrubbing down and washing up. Get off all the sweat and grossness that came with changing forms. I then got out, dried off, and dressed in tomboyish women's clothing. I was grateful it all still fit. "Guess we should put this plan in motion." And then I awoke.
