Summer wanted to take me to see a rare lichen bloom so we went deep into the woods in washington and were at this lake that was slightly foggy amd had an eery feeling to it. we found a rare bird that i first thought was a trogon that had a large reinforced beek similar to a toucan. it had a large hump on the dorsal side of the beek that made an odd squeaky noise through what appeared to be its nares but as it revealed itself its nose morphed into small stumpy legs. it resembled a small baby hippo dinosaur but in my dream i described it as a small little foot from the land before time. its body was incredible shades of indigo and baby blue and yellow and orange. it got attacked by another rare animal we had never seen which resembled a wolverine. i through rocks at the animal attacking it. shortly after we found a boardwalk with ab outhouse on it and lying on the boardwalk railing was what appeared to be a pocket sized fox on a carabiner. i pointed it out to summer and the outhouse door cracked open and a fox slowly emerged then the rest of the door opened and two things happenes: the fox had all its fur on its head but from the side it had no fur or muscles it was just a skeleton from the neck down and was walking holding it by a leash was a tall quiet man in his twenties. he was clean shaven with thick crisp dark brown hair. the fox he had just killed while hunting and tho it was a skeleton and walking on its own nothing seemed odd or scary about it except that it was the first thing we saw after looking at the one on the carabiner. we briefly talked to the man and asked if hed seen the strange hippo dinosaur and he replied that in fact he had and continued on his way. he seemed like he frequented the forest often. shortly after casey was suddenly with us on the boardwalk and we were at a fork in the river. the river resembled the umpqua, it had a large slab of rock for the shore that was slightly submerged with occasional underwater caves in it and then it dropped off steeply in the water. Casey was amazed at the salmon that appeared to be numerous and feeding on the shallow rocks so he waded onto them. the water was deep and the current appeared slow in the shallows and strong in the deep water but i became alarmed because the rocks appeared slippery, similar to the ones at elk creek by the waterfall. i told him he really shouldnt go in the water and at the same time summer jumped in. alarmed i yelled that the current was to swift to swim and summer replied that it was ok because there was an undertow. even more alarmed i ran to the shoreline to assist in case she got in trouble. it appeared fine at first until she started drifting slowly down stream and slowly got sucked under the water over a small opening in the rocks in the shallows. originally i thought she was trying to scare me but when i got closer it was clear she wasnt coming back up and was grabbing at her throat as tho she was choking while trying to hold onto the ledge to keep from being sucked fully into the cave. i dove under water to help but by the time i could reach her hand she had stopped moving and i knew she was dead then i woke up the place was magical it was full of undiscovered wildlife and things that have evolved in isolation but there was also a malicious presence that hung in the air as if the very nature of the place was predatory.
