I was on a school trip. First, my class went to an amusement park/zoo. (Idk, it was weird.) For some reason, a group of my friends and I were constantly on the run from security. I was separated from the rest of the group in a chase, and I found a shortcut through a restricted area. I ran through it quickly and found my self at a bouncy castle type area on the other side. I quickly got disoriented by jumping. It almost seemed like the floor moved forward and I was rolling. There was a big hill and one of the guys from my class told me that it was fun to go up it, so I should go. I didn’t want to go, but I was in such a daze that I couldn’t move and the floor was pushing me forward towards it. It pushed me over the hill, and suddenly, I was in a new building. I now found myself in a wooden lodge-like building, with posters all around and a bunch of widows on one side, where people were looking at reindeer. They were spitting bread from their food at the reindeer, and I thought that it was revolting both to me and the reindeer to feed them in such a way. So, I whispered to them to stop. Then, the windows were suddenly covered with papers with strange symbols, and the people had vanished. I was scared, so I turned around to look for an exit or help. There were blue decorations all around and a sign stating that Cinderella would be out shortly. I don’t know why, but I connected Cinderella with one of my schoolmates, who I only now remembered had told me that they were going to sneak in using a Cinderella costume that morning, when we all entered the park. It gave me a horrible feeling of dread, and I wondered if they’d been caught. I didn’t want to stick around for the show in a creepy room alone, so I ran to an exit and pounded and kicked on the door until it opened. Suddenly, I jolted awake on a charter bus. (A dream within a dream, lol.) I looked around, startled, and heard my band teacher’s voice explaining that we were going to be at a cafe soon, but it wasn’t your average cafe. You would get your drink, but after you finished it, there’d be a riddle on the bottom of the inside of your cup for you to solve. I immediately knew that I would want one of my friends, who loves riddles as much as I do, to team up with me to solve our riddles together. I mouthed to her, “Partners?” And she vigorously nodded to me in agreement. We arrived soon and I made sure to show said friend all my Sherlock books that I had brought. I kept them on the bus, though. We walked in, and I realized that the cafe looked more like a mansion. We walked in and got our drinks. Once the drinks arrived, everyone rapidly drank their drinks, but me. I had a bad feeling that my drink might be poisoned, so I poured it into a plant when no one was looking. Looking around, seeing that everyone had chugged their drinks, I realized that we were the only people in this “cafe”. I found that strange, so I went to ask a teacher, but the teacher just urged me to read my riddle. I did as they suggested, and looked the inside of my cup. “What lives only in the presence of light, and follows all as a twin of darkness?” I knew right away that the answer was “a shadow”, so I pretty much forgot about using my friend for help. Though, I found it quite hilarious that I got this exact riddle, because I have a twin. I would’ve went and showed her, but I heard a bell. From the staircase, descended our principal, in very fancy clothing. He informed us that in those drinks were poison, but one among the group was not poisoned. I knew that person to be me, as I didn’t drink from my cup. He called this person clever and said that should they be killed tonight, they would have a more creative death as a prize for their wit. At this point, the class freaked out, hearing that someone might die. I was freaking out, but nonetheless was flattered by the gesture. I was just hoping that “creative” didn’t mean tearing my limbs off one by one or making me eat my own organs. The principal announced that this player would be treated specially. They would not be bound by all the rules of the game, but they were not to leave until it was over. They held the position that he called the “jester”. He promised that they would be given their rights at an appropriate time. People were looking around at each other, hoping that they were not poisoned by receiving a special drink or something. I played along the best that I could while listening attentively. The principal continued by announcing that everyone should solve their riddles as fast as possible to give themselves and others a better chance to survive. This was all part of a killing game to get rid of students without potential or talent, he explained. I could tell that some students got cockier and some got more scared from hearing that. I sat on the couch, grabbing an ink feather pen and a pad of paper, and jotted down the important parts of what he was saying. I had put my cup on the table. He finished his speech off by telling us that our history teacher would be in shortly and that the first act had begun. He went back up the staircase and disappeared. I finished writing and looked up to see chaos among my classmates. They were all asking who the jester was, even accusing others to have been the jester, as if it was a bad thing. A rowdy boy from the class said that the jester was probably working with the teachers and staff to kill us. One of the smarter girls in the class said that they might be our only hope against them. I was quite frightened of about half of the class, who was trying to condemn the jester, but I took some calm in hearing the other half acting like I was the solution to all of their problems. Someone walked up to me and said, “———, you’re smart. Tell us who you think the jester is.” I pulled them closer, as they were a trusted friend, and I asked them to get my twin for me to tell my accusation to. They agreed and ran off to get my twin. As my twin came towards me from across the room, I wrote down some people’s names and their strengths, thinking that it might come in handy later. Suddenly, I heard screaming from around me and felt something pierce my neck. I instinctively tried to grab the source of the pain and felt a metal object being pulled out. I had no clue how I could deduce this so fast, but I could tell that it was a syringe. I am terrified of syringes. I froze up, being absolutely horrified, and was dragged off the couch and out of the room, down a hallway. A heard a slam of doors, but I was pretty out of it at this point and was pathetically trying to get away from my kidnapper. I can’t remember who this person was or what they looked like, but I remember going completely limp and blacking out, hearing them saying something about a shadow guiding the children of light.
