The Young Olympics

In this dream I was about to go to work for the first time since my quarantine. We had been told by our boss that he bought new masks for us to wear and we (me and Zoë) went in and got them on. They were white and were almost like a sheet mask, they went over our whole face and had holes for the mouth, nose and eyes. I thought it was ridiculous and took it off. The building we were in was like a huge, industrial hall. It was a multipurpose space and had in it our market, an art gallery, the Olympics and a couple of cafes. I start work at the market and do a few things. It's quite busy but I'm not sure if it's well founded busyness. I go to help out at the cafe. At the cafe there is a large line and Zoë get behind the counter to start taking orders. I encourage a couple of guys to get two single mochas so that I only have to use the espresso machine once and make the same drink (I used to be a barista and this made life so much easier). I go to make their drinks and there are NO cups! No cups where they go, in the cupboards, none anywhere! I fuss about how we're never given what we need to do a good job and get frustrated and leave. I go over to a side hallway where there are bunk rooms for the athletes. The Olympics were meant for only school aged kids and it was sort of mandatory like gym. No one really wanted to be there. My little step brother Jordan was there (at about age 11) and he was given special pants for the uniform. Everyone had to wear white pants and he was self-conscious about the way his looked on him. I crouch down to roll the cuffs to make them look more fashionable. The other kids are socializing and getting on fine but Jordan is shy and reserved. The next scene I walk towards the art gallery at the back of the space and admire all the artworks...they were really colourful and beautiful. I now have the knowledge that there are plenty of cups stocked up at the cafe. But where were they when we actually needed them? It was too late now and I wasn't going back. The end.
