Killers In the Attic

Driving home from a night out with my family, we pull into our driveway surprised to see the flashing lights of police vehicles. My father asks them what is wrong while I enter the house, listening to the police explain as I enter. The police explain to my father that their had been a forced entry into our home. I was not shocked at this news. For some reason my family and I all knew that three days ago our house was broken into but nothing was stolen. I was not alarmed by this for I thought, as did my family, that the culprit simply broke in for a rest or some food and had left a nice “eco friendly” magazine on our counter to thank us for our hospitality. My father told the police this as I watched from the doorway, my eyes scanning the new magazine that had not been thrown away yet. The police corrected my father and said that the culprit of this break in was in fact two convicted killers who had been on the run for several days now, and that they had been tracked to our location. That night my sister and I were to scared to sleep in our own bedrooms so we insisted on sleeping in our parents room for the night. My dad had gotten his gun out from the garage and had placed it next to his bed. I could not fall asleep. I was very restless and was annoyed that it was dark out because it made it so I couldn’t see clearly. Suddenly my father got a call from the police and went out into the kitchen to take it. I sat there thinking to myself, “Why would two murders break into our house and leave a magazine about saving the planet?” Then it hit me. My father walked back into the room standing diagonally underneath a heating vent. Before I could start explaining to him why the killers had left the magazine I saw the vent move and slide to reveal a silver hand gun pointing at my fathers head. I screamed as he jumped back out of the way of the gunman. I crawled from the room to the kitchen but stopped at the doorway. The second killer was going through our fridge and had seen me. I quickly crawled back into the room and hid in a small corner in my parents closet, putting a white clothing hamper in front of me. As my family screamed the gunman from the roof had come down from the vent and had watched me take my hiding spot. He walked into the closet and reached his hand into the small opening between the hamper and the wall to show me his gun. Telling me that he was not going to shoot me. Then I woke up. The reason why they left the magazine in our house was because they wanted us to keep the vents off because they were hiding in them. After this dream I was so terrified that I actually had to sit up awake for awhile, man it was a wild one! But in the same night I fell back asleep only to dream about the same killers AGAIN! This time however I had the knowledge of the previous dream and knew that one of the guys did not want to kill me... but this is a different dream for a different entry.
