I was suddenly in the body of the leader, named Ezra, of a 6-man team that controlled a powerful machine. This machine was similar to the robots from Pacific Rim. It was made to withstand harsh water, heavy force, and even things like lightning strikes or fires. We knew, however, that they weren't indestructible. The machines called Custos, a word meaning guardian or watchman, were made due to a strange phenomenon on this world. It was a world ravaged by almost yearly ozone blasts that seemed to effect the wildlife. When it did effect them, their body would morph into larger and older versions, often prehistoric looking versions. When this happened they became what were called Belua, a word meaning beast. The job of the Custos was to kill the Belua or, at the very least, maintain them. My team and I had been sent to an ocean side city that was often ravaged on both fronts. They had ocean in front and lots of forest life behind. Attempts to traverse and leave had been difficult. On top of this the effects of the ozone blasts, which usually faded after a couple months and killed off those effected, seemed to linger for anywhere between 4 to 6 months at a time. We were the firat team sent out to aid them in some time due to finally having a high enough number of Custos teams to defend the other major areas. The hard part was me trying to lead. I was still myself in mind, and the memories of the Ezra woman I'd appeared in weren't emerging fast enough. My team, particularly my second-in-command who was named Chester, chalked it up to shell shock. Ezra had been on one of the first Custos teams when the ozone blasts began about two decades prior. She was only 15 then and was one of two survivors. Chester was the other survivor of that team. We became near inseparable after that... but were also heavily in sync. To the point we often didn't need to speak to communicate our plans. The team we'd gained eventually caught on and got in sync with us too. As we docked the machine on the shore line... I could see great danger ahead. I went with one of the other members to get word to the civilians to head up to high ground. Leaving Chester to lead the other four members to control the machine in case any threats came close. A huge tidal wave was on the horizon and we could see sharks that had been effected were swimming in it. Who knew what other creatures were lurking further below. After convincing people to head to higher ground, thankful they had some kind of local guard to assist them, my teammate and I began our trek back to our Custos... right as the tidal wave was incoming. Then I awoke.
