How Not To Draw

I'm teaching guitar to two children. We take a moment to talk about drawing. I turn a photograph of somebody's face upside down and begin to draw it. My aim is to demonstrate that drawing something upside down is easier because it trains the eye to see distance between objects more accurately. However, upon turning my drawing over, I see that it hasn't worked and my sketch looks inaccurate. I feel embarrassed.
