I'm at school talking to another teacher. We are having a fire drill. As the students evacuate the building, I look around to see that there are multiple construction projects on campus. I comment that we ought to have emergency plans to deal with the construction projects, and suddenly a gust of wind catches a large cloth attached to the scaffolding of one of the projects and causes it to start to topple over. The students run around chaotically in various directions. I think someone will get hurt, so I yell at them to stop, pay attention to the source of danger, then move calmly away. Surprisingly, they listen and no one is hurt. I'm surprised also at myself. Not long ago, I would never have done that. I would have let someone else intervene. I look to my fellow teacher and tell her that this is exactly why we need emergency plans, and maybe now those in charge will actually listen to me.
