Hide and Seek

In this dream I had a machine, like virtual reality except it would split reality, and you would be the target of every person in the world. They would be continuing their normal lives, but if anyone saw you, even domestic pets, they would hunt you. Who ever kills you can take the device, giving them the power to do whatever they desire. I started by trying to cross a bridge that had frequent panther crossing. I had a warthog (from halo) and an ally on the gun. We were ambushed by waves of people with automatic rifles and some warthogs, which could not reach us due to terrain. There were big daddy's (bioshock) all around and escaping felt impossible. I managed to hide out in a house and turned my friend into a cat to stay on lookout. From here I was making plans of what I should do. I went upstairs and saw a small crowd of people sitting in chairs beneath a tree, dressed for church and enjoying the weather. They were together among the others living their lives freely outside. I felt a sense of duty, that I should protect everyone from taking the device because their fate would inevitably become being impossibly alone. Always hiding, never given the chance to hold desires. I decided to use the device to become invisible and try to sneak away. However someone had seen me from outside and came in to kill me. It was a fat, redneck looking guy. I ended the reality and found myself face to face with him, only he was aware he was not trying to kill me anymore. He was friendly and anxious to have me let him use the machine. I woke up. People's intentions are not always black and white.
