All adults are infected, mostly children and teens remaining (though they're not immune, it spreads much slower among them for some reason). One way to temporarily avoid them is to cover your face kind of like COVID, and the eyes when they get closer. The zombies can be slowed down after having limbs cut off. Beheading or blasting the head with a shotgun is the only way to kill them permanently. The disease turns the blood black and turns people into violent cannibals. Zombies release spores when they get near which turn into little creatures that look like Stephen King's Langoliers (pacman like creature with a mouth only, sharp teeth) and mosquito like creatures with sharp blade-like wings. They can be easily defeated, but they can suddenly spawn in groups. The virus needs other people to spread, so if you find a way to isolate the sick from the healthy you can buy time. Anyway, in the dream it started in a train. I was escaping some unrelated thing (someone was following me and I was on the run) and the train was fairly crowded. I sat down in my seat and the train started moving. After a while the train suddenly stopped and everything went quiet. Immediately I remembered the scene from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, where Harry + friends were on the Hogwarts Express taking them to school, when the train suddenly stopped because of Dementors. It was the same kind of eeriness in my dream. The people in my cart became weird and hostile and for some reason my instinct was to cover my face with a blanket, and then covering my eyes as well, which confused them for some reason and they didn't attack me. I could see a little bit through the small gap in the cloth over my head and used that to guide me to the door and get out of the train. When I got out, all I wanted to do was run away as fast as me legs could carry me. Even though the contagion hasn't spread yet, I knew it was a matter of time. I was in a train station in a large city. I was like a ninja doing parkour jumps and being able to balance myself and grab onto random parts of architecture to move around. That was earlier in the day, then it was night, and I realised there were children and young people without older adults. I found out the youth was organising a resistance & rescue group between themselves, trying to find survivors and to kill whatever zombies were skulking around. They were all wearing black masks. I joined them. We were going around an apartment block looking for survivors but the place looked abandoned, as though it was occupied a minute ago but it was now empty. There were lights on in rooms, computers on, etc. But no residents. At one point we actually fought the zombies in an attempt to save a few of the survivors we found, but one man got infected and he knew it, so to save us he got a sharp blade and stabbed himself in the stomach (where the virus is believed to start). I was shocked but also impressed by his heroism. Eventually we found a warehouse where a group of survivors were hiding. We went there to warn them and find a way out. We also found these survivors were actual adults, in their 30s and 40s. They seemed to have been in the middle of a dispute, some kind of betrayal. Anyway, we went to get them out of there. The zombies were coming. I found a small window which was a perfect escape and could potentially cut us off from the contagion. On the other side were a group of children waiting for us. When we got out, it was time to confront the Final Boss. The character behind the zombie apocalypse, the guy who literally invented it. It was Doctor Eggman from Sonic the Hedgehog.
