Hunted by a 16 foot giant crocodile

An accident had happened. Something that caused people to stand at the edge of a river and gawk at the other side. I stood nearby as well. I can't remember who else had been there, but I distinctly remember my mother only because of what happens next. A crocodile had suddenly departed from its still recess and had begun to make its way to the gathering of people. I watched this process happen. The crocodile was enormous. 16 or 17 feet long and the color of a dark green. It looked formidable and terrifying, colossal and horrifying. It swam with an unexpected grace toward us and I shouted and shouted about it and went up in into the trees. I climbed until I felt safe, but then I saw the crocodile stretching its scaly beck towards the feet of my mother. The river bank was steep and high and made it a challenging climb for even that monstrous animal. I shouted at my mom but she didn't appear to hear me. The crocodile could never quite reach her. It never got her. I don't think it ever for anyone, but the menace and the panic was still strongly felt. It came after me at one point and in response I climbed higher into the tree. I can still vividly see the moment when it awoke as though it had been just a lump of clay before coming to life. I see it in the water. Down in the river that long, green monster.
