She's gone

I was thinking about the first time around my girlfriend and I dated. It was depressing so I just went to sleep to forget about it. Nothing happened in the dream. It was just darkness, but there was just this overwhelming feeling of sadness and loneliness. I had this sick twisting in my chest that my girlfriend was gone, just gone. Off the face of the earth. Into thin air. Faded from existence. I woke up with tears running down my face. It made me think I didn't do enough so this time around, I'm doing all I can to keep her by my side.
