Surprised and waiting

Not sure on the exact date of this dream. First my friend M (J’s friend) wanted to hang out but was bummed I was hanging out with my bf. She’s a really fun girl and represents carefree living! My bf looked kind of weird in the dream. Then my dad was there in a robe different than the one he usually wears. He said “Hmm, I’m surprised she’s still with him” as in surprised I’m still with my bf. He decided to just quietly observe us and watch over us. Could be a reflection of my recent thoughts that I wonder what my dad thinks that I’m still with my bf after the issues that recently came up. Otherwise once a former priest said sometimes a father in a dream can represent God/a higher being.
