I applied for an apartment and was heading back to sign the final papers with the lady. As I looked over the contract I saw all these extra fees that no one had told me about. I started questioning her on them and she’d give me vague roundabout answers. I kept pushing though and she started taking some of them off. Like the pet fee for example, when I didn’t even have a pet. I get to this one that’s a $45 fee and she tells me reluctantly that it’s a “cheese fee”. She hands me the bag of kraft singles saying that it’s a fee so that I get these cheese slices. I’m so appalled. I don’t want her nasty 3 month old cheese that she just pulled out of some random fridge! I lay into her, yelling and causing a big scene. No one had ever communicated to me about a cheese fee, and I didn’t even want it so why was it required! The lady doesn’t have any answers for me and refers back to “oh I’ll just call my manager”. I scream some more and throw the cheese at her and retreat to my apartment in seething fury. There’s some people across the hall staring at me, particularly this one weird guy who was like a strange alternate version of Richmond from the IT Crowd. Anyway, they invite me over for cookies and then tell me how impressive it was that I stood up to her like that. They show me their fridge full of old kraft singles. Then the guy randomly starts poking my arm with this thing, but it’s behind my back to I can’t see what he’s doing. It tickles and I ask him what he’s doing but he just says to trust him and that I’ll like it. I realize he’s giving me some sort of tattoo and he assured me it’s temporary. I accept and let him finish because he’s a fun dude even though he’s really strange. He ended up just drawing a bunch of emojis and writing “poop” and then it wasn’t even temporary and I was so mad but I didn’t want to hurt his feelings so I ran away and cried.
