Another dream that I can't remember all the details of compared to my norm. I'll do my best though. -------------------------------------------------- I was a young man and was on an island vacation with friends and family. Many of us had worked at the same company and were just grateful to finally relax. I was gifted. I could communicate with animals and beasts. In some cases even control them...but I preferred not to use that part if I had a choice. My name was Alikai. I was 26, I think. I was a fierce character if you threatened those I loved but was otherwise kind and pretty passive. I don't remember what exactly happened. My (dream me's) boyfriend, Jake, and I were suddenly running with our friend Billi down the path towards the beach. Trees were crashing to the ground as we raced for freedom from them. People were calling for us from the beach. We just barely got out to safety when a huge beast appeared. It had a gorilla-like body but it's eyes and snout were reptilian. It had feline-like claws and a low snarl that was as deadly as any wolf's. "Alikai don't go near it." Billi pleaded as I stood just a couple yards from this towering creature. "C'mon Al...you know not all of them listen..." Jake watched wearily. I stared down this beast as my eyes turned the same reptilian form as the beast's eyes. "I wish not to harm you. None of us do. Why have you chased us out here?" I felt shivers go down my spine as it knelt down before me to get to eye level. "Leave or you all will perish. Far worse death than I resides here." the beast growled in warning. I gulped and nodded. I could see fire blazing across its eyes but I knew that it was more like a glimpse in the beast's mind. "We need to gather the others and leave. This island's not safe." I told the others, not breaking eye contact with this creature before me. "Because of this thing?" Billi asked in mild annoyance. The creature turned its gaze on her. Silencing her almost instantly. "He was warning us. We must go. Now." I told them. Scene changed and I'm sitting in Jake's lap, leaning back against him. My eyes are closed as I feel him hold me close. He was worried. We both were. We had stayed back with a few others to try and get any remaining members of our vacation party off the island. There had been some unaccounted for when we got the first group gathered and outta there. We had felt tremors earlier. A shaking of the ground beneath us. The beast, I'd started calling him Koga, was searching the trees for anyone else as well. "We'll get out of here. Everyone will be safe." Jake told me with a gentle kiss to my temple. "I hope so. You didn't see what I saw. The tremors are just the beginning." My voice was quiet and weak. I was terrified. Fire blazes across the night scenery. We'd gathered the remaining members of our vacation party and were making it to the rafts that had been made to help get us to the ship. I don't remember why but something was keeping the ship from getting to the shore. Koga was carrying me and Jake to the shoreline. Pain seared across my back. I had gotten hit by some of the flames earlier on. We hadn't yet had a chance to tend to it as the fire on the island was spreading rapidly. "We're almost there. Everyone can get to freedom." Jake said. 'You will be needed for them to make it. I can't go.' Koga told me. He knew only I could hear him. "Swim to the ship...it can hold someone like you..." My voice was hoarse and scratchy. It hurt to speak. It hurt to move even. 'No. I know what your kind do to those like me. I'll be fine. You two must get to safety.' Koga told me. I bit my lower lip as he lowered me and Jake onto a raft and pushed it away from the shore. The fire blazed on and I could hear the screams of many of the creatures I'd befriended on that island. Jake ran his hand through my short hair and tried to calm me. "We couldn’t make him. You know that." "I could have...but he was right. Coming with us would be a fate worse than death..." I whispered, heart heavy. I awoke after that. I have no clue if Koga swam somewhere to safety.
