The Book

I went out to club with friends. Kid dancing with beautiful girl. Kid leaves. Beautiful girl starts dancing with me. Enjoying myself. Kid come back devastated. I apologize and tell him she’s all his. Others come up to me wanted to fight because I danced with the girl. It’s not that serious. I become sad because I’m recently single and still new at this. Later, friends bring round more beautiful girls. They have magical abilities. We have a fun time dancing, then exit the bar. Exit into medieval town square. Girls say leaving the town is nearly impossible. Why? In order to leave, we must complete a maze in a timely fashion. Called the “Rabbit Run” because rabbit-like creatures run the race with us. The leaders of the town sends out ‘the Shark’ to take out those who don’t run the maze in time. The Shark is a machine that grinds your body into bone fragments which make great gravel for the down square. They also release wolves in the maze to hunt the rabbits for food. We are all running the maze as Draco Malfoy is explaining this all to me. He says he ran the maze once when he got lost in the town as a small boy. He was the last survivor and he had to push another child in front of the Shark to survive. As we are running the maze, Draco becomes increasingly slower and starts to lag behind. I get stuck at a dead end and have to turn around. In the distance I hear the metal fangs of the Shark clanging open and close. I close the book and search for something to mark my page. I’m outside and find a round green leaf to place between the pages. I mark my spot and close the book. I was reading the newest Harry Potter book: Harry Potter and the Rabbit Run.
