I was watching a student music recital in my college and there was a freshman who came up to the stage to play a violin piece. She proudly and confidently walked up to the stage. She had long blonde hair and looked quite older for her age. As she started playing she was smiling happily and rocking side to side to the rhythm of the music. Halfway through the piece she stopped and told the audience, “I shouldn’t be doing this, but I am going to cut my hair to prove you a point.” She gets the scissors and slowly starts cutting her hair, hesitating. Then she continues to play. Everybody stared at her because she was so good. After she was done, one of my classmates performed. After a few others performed, this girl came back again, now with a cello. I was thinking, “How many instruments can she play?” She rocked out another cello solo plus she had on a new dress and a pixie haircut. She wows the audience again and after a few more students, she came up a third time with a brass instrument. As she sets it up she says, “You see that I play many instruments, anyone can play many instruments if you put your mind to it. It’ll keep you from being lazy, keep your pets entertained, and you’ll discover something you love.” Everyone claps for her.
