fugitives in Stepford

Two towns next to each other-one a Stepford-esque, the other a close second. Both are strict about visitors. I know a girl who went looking for my cat who accidentally crossed over the city limits and is never seen again. I go looking for her and the cat and am seen by someone and have to flee to the other town where I hide in a house and later a radio station where a boy who works there helps me and becomes a fugitive too. Our faces are plastered all over the news and one of his friends turns us in so we hire a detective to cross over to Stepford and find the cat! and then I wake up. Restless night of sleeping
