New York City Gloves

Went shopping in New York City and found a pair of really expensive gloves with important serial number barcodes on them (not sure for what). Bought the gloves and left them with customer service while I continued to look around the store - I didn’t find anything else. Just as I was about to leave, I noticed customer service handing my bag to another guy. I quickly ran out of the store to chase the guy. He was quite a bit ahead of me already and no matter what I did I just couldn’t catch up. I finally started to gain on him just as he was stepping onto a bus. I tried to get on too but the doors had already automatically closed and the bus started moving. I yelled and pointed at the guy and he finally made eye contact with me. I made a gesture to look in his bag and then another gesture of myself putting on gloves. He looked down in his white bag and then slowly looked back up at me with a sinister smile on his face as the bus drove off into the cityscape.
