It Was Almost the Perfect Cabin

The first part that I can remember, I have a baby, its my baby and I just gave birth to him two days before. I had him in my arms at my mom's house and there were a few people around. He was growing rapidly and could already hold himself up, he looked maybe 2 or 3 years old. I knew that he had just come from Source so I wanted to ask him some questions. I asked him what he wanted to be and he said 'George Washington' and I told my baby that we were Canadian so we'd have to be something else. Then I asked him why I don't have a partner and he said 'haven't you heard of a dike before?!' - I was shocked but took all of this for truth. I told my mom what he had said and she thought it was vulgar. There was a short part where my grandmother was visited by her friends by boat. We went out to the back deck and waved to her 3 male friends, all old. Grandma was dying and they wanted to say goodbye. The next part, me and Luc are moving to his new work place. We're going to be in an individual cabin on a lake. We get to the cabin and it's a little disheveled so we work on cleaning it up, it turns out the basement would be perfect for me and he can have the upstairs. It starts to look good and I feel excited and hopeful. Bran comes to visit and at first it feels a bit nerve wracking but then we settle in and have a good time. We end up playing with a couple of neighborhood kids and jumping in snow. After Bran leaves it seems that this cabin is now mine and my mom's. The feeling of excitement hasn't completely gone away but it is now like it is her project and the collaboration is gone. At one point I decide to go map out a path down to the lake from the cabin so mom and I can have an evening drink down there. I have a shovel and make a dirt way down, it's pretty steep so I have to level it. When I get to the bottom there is a bit of a wall of rocks, so I climb the rocks and don't see any water in the center, it looks dry. I keep looking and it's apparent that the site that all these singular work cabins are built around is a dump! It is stagnant and gross and I'm a little disappointed. When I get back to the cabin I don't tell anybody what I've seen, it's like everyone knows and I'm the only one that was disillusioned. I'm now not excited about the cabin at all and am in the basement watching fruit flies try to get into a glass of old beer. There are three washers and three dryers in the laundry room, I wonder why. The end.
