Alien Explorers

I was one of a group of alien (extra-terrestrial) explorers. We had a base on the icy flats of Antarctica, where oddly there were polar bears. There was a shed on the base that opened on both sides, but to walk through it you were transported to somewhere in the northern central United States. Though we'd never been there before we were greeted by name and given a friendly welcome.
