Pleas pick up your monkey

I’m in suburbs of Stockport where my gran used to live. Both sets of grandparents have been long time dead. I never go anywhere near Manchester now so thats stupid to begin with. An ape somehow manages to come over the roof tops and knocks on the window of the spare room where I use to sleep when my gran is alive. It’s cold and the ape looks cold so I let it in. As soon as it’s in I start getting it warm and dry. Looking after things as is my nature to do. The ape is nice and polite. It likes that I’m looking after it. It hasn’t been treated nicely for a long time, if ever. There are other in the house but although they are not my family they behave like it. They say we need to find the owners of the ape and get them to pick it up. Meantime, I find that the ape, who can talk is called Lily, She likes to drink tea with one sugar and she prefers jam on toast for breakfast rather than bananas. In fact, she turns her nose up at bananas when I offer her some. Lily has put on some of my grans clothes without asking. I’m a bit put out but I don’t blame her for wanting to put clothes on. Lily the ape can’t speak much but I get the impression her owners know that she’s out and was cold but they not that bothered and it’s happened before. I get the their telephone number off Lily and phone them to tell them where Lily is so that they can pick her up. I get a rough sounding woman on the phone who sounds pleased (she says ‘yeah’ a lot in a up beat tone, bit like someone off Eastenders) but starts messing about about picking Lily up. The phone is an old one and my “family” who seem to be smart intelligent Asian ladies similar to my work colleagues are making a lot of noise. They want to go out and collect my gran and don’t want the monkey unsettling her when they do. The rough woman on the phone says she is looking for a new flat. I don’t really want her to know where I live or anything much about me. I don’t want to tell her my grans address so I try and arrange to take Lily to the local pub for the pick up. The woman notes down the address of the pub but says what the point of that, there are no flats available there. I try to get her address so that I can drop of Lily to their door. But no there are road works and all sorts of reasons why I can’t do that either. Lily is looking sad but not surprised by this conversation. I still think she is better off with her family even though I know there are gold diggers, scammers and players. Eventually I give the phone to my “sister” who deals and gives the lady a short ultimatum. Pick your monkey up or we hand Lily to the authorities. The dream ends but I get the feeling Lily’s owners are still going to play this out more. Feel sorry for Lily, but at least I’ve got good family now. Annoying dream though, the stupid telephone convo went on way too long.
