Dismembered Chihuahua Paw

I was at the home of two people who felt like a couple. It was daytime and the house was comfortable and white inside, with a little bit of clutter here and there. I left the room with the couple, near a kitchen, and went into another room where my (deceased) white Chihuahua, Remy, was laying on the ground with his paw detached and laying bloody beside him. My impression was that he had gnawed it off. I returned to the couple and told them what I saw and that I needed to go. They followed me back to the room where Remy was and I scooped him up. As we went outside to my car, parallel parked in a little neighborhood, I wondered if I should call the vet or go right to the emergency room. Then I realized I had forgotten his paw inside the house. I left him in the front seat, ran back in, and picked up his paw. Then I woke.
