I'm Helpless

I got properly engaged to the man of my dreams. My fiance and I drove our way to a boardwalk in town when the sun was setting. We parked and got really kissy and cute before making our way out of the car. My perspective shifted into third-person as I watched myself walked, kissing my baby and giggling with him once more really quick before we walked out into the empty boardwalk above the wide, calm river. I followed him as made our way underneath the path of string lights and pastel clouds. And at the end of the path was a cute white gazebo with a picnic table set up with food and all sorts of cute things. There was a couple of speakers and the song Helpless from the Hamilton Musical started playing. And well, I gotta say, damn... I was wearing this really beautiful dress that looked like silk and lace, soft pastel pink stretching over my feet and to my wrists. The top was the lace, transparent and covered with these beautiful flowers down from my neck, down across my shoulders and to my chest. Then, from my chest, the material was covered by the silk, almost metallic as it covered my brown, almost wooden-like heels. The only jewelry I had on was a pair of simple dangled earrings made of silver and had Cat's Eyes orbs on them. My hair looked longer and more wavy as it was put up out of my face, held back by a thick braid, which was accented by a wildflower crown. And no make up for me, because I prefer nude. I was never one for make up anyway. But I could tell I did put on a faint pink apricot-scented lipgloss for the special occasion. Like I couldn't even tell it was me. The girl I was watching was too beautiful. Like something for a spring-themed prom of some high school movie. Soon, the perspective shifted back to first-person. We took a seat and began to eat as we exchanged conversations and laughter. We had a fun time. It was so nice and sweet. Then, I saw a group of people I knew. They might have been classmates or co-workers or a mix of both, but they just kind of appeared and had their fun until they noticed me. They rushed over and nearly talked over each other, all of than clearly amused of the fact I was in a beautiful dress and that I'm outside here with a guy. I did my best to listen to all of them and take in all of their greetings and compliments, taking notice of my fiance's uneasiness. Pouring around us in excitement, I was able to hear the ask all sorts of questions, like what was the special occasion and who was the mysterious man I was with. As I explained I was on a date with my fiance, everyone freaked out and congratulated us. And bashfully, I said my thanks as I did my best to hear everyone. Soon, one of the kids said that we should be left alone so we could go back to our date. In relief, I said my goodbyes to all of them as they walked off and waved, making their way across the parking lot. Nervously, I turned back to my fiance, mentally preparing myself to apologize for the disturbance. But I stayed quiet and glanced around my feet at I played with my food. Suddenly, I felt something poking the palm of my hand. I looked up, and instantly, I was filled with pure happiness. I saw my fiance smiling nervously as he tightly intertwined his fingers with mine. "I know." He breathed gently. We went back to talking and eating, finishing the food and having a lot of laughs until the evening finally fell to night. It was cooler then, with some fireflies now floating around the trees and grass. Some lingered above the river and over in the other side to the woods and far off the top railroad tracks and up in the night sky. After cleaning ourselves up and got ourselves ready to leave, I noticed a hand sticking out to me. I stared at it and looked up to see my fiance shrugging as he gave me an anxious smile. Taking it and returning the smile, he lead me to a spot on the grass near the gazebo and pulled me closer to him, relaxing his hands on my waist as I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck and rested my head on his shoulder. Slowly, we danced, still dancing to Hamilton's Helpless, stepping and twirling underneath the stringed lights and the fireflies and the start stars. Once in a while, we whispered into each other's ears, just some mushy, cute stuff and giggling about it. Once in a while, I took glances at him, taking noticing how he was just wearing nice brown shoes, dark jeans, and a thin, buttoned flannel of dark blue, brown, and white. And his beard grew out more, showing more of the red there whereas his head was still shaved. And he wore these dark military-like sunglasses to where you could only see his blue eyes up close. Soon, I heard my name being called. It whispered deeply into my eat, very slowly and sweetly. I looked up as my fiance as he took off the sunglasses, letting it rest on the collar of his shirt. He stared at me with his honest blue eyes, not stopping as he slowly got in his knee and pulled out a tiny box. I couldn't help but let out a tiny gasp as he opened it to reveal a tiny silver ring with jewels. "Isabelle, will you be my shield maiden?***" Well, fuck yes. Practically in tears, I fell down onto my knees to his level as I laughed until my hand, staring at him and the ring. I nodded excitedly. Chuckling, he kissed me, all over my face, as he slipped the ring onto my finger. We were so happy. He was so happy. I was so happy. The fireflies, the stars, the string lights, they all began to shared to that usual crystal dust as we hugged each other tightly and gave each other kisses until I stole it my bed.
