Lion’s bite

It was moonless night and I went outside without thinking it through. As I stepped out into the darkness I saw a young lion emerge from the night. I realised then I had forgotten we had a wild lion as a kind of pet in our yard. He approached with a romp almost like a playful dog, then came around behind me where he took my head into his jaws and pulled me to the ground. As I lay there with his teeth pressing into my skull I knew he could crush my head at a moment’s whim. I ineffectively tried to gouge at his eye which he ignored. After a little while, and of his own accord, he let me go and silently walked away into the night.
