I was a young man of noble birth but was the youngest of five siblings, not really seen as "heir material." During this, I was trying to hold a fairly good relationship with a woman I cared deeply for. I was traveling back home for a family gathering with my close friend, and dear cousin, Evelyn. While on our way back we stopped down at a hotel for a night, with separate rooms. At the hotel I met a man named Hugh and he seemed fairly drunk… and the hotel staff weren't helping in regards to what room he was staying in. I took Hugh back to my hotel room, helped him to the shower, and forced him out his clothes but the boxers, then set him under a cold shower. Hugh sobered up for the most part and seemed to get upset but then noticed I'd simply put his clothes on the sink counter and not stolen them. I left him alone so he could bathe and get dressed. Soon enough he came out to the main part of the room in my bathrobe and sat by me on the bed. "You could have put your clothes back on," I stated. "I'm letting my boxers dry first," he remarked then looked my way. I was flushed red with embarrassment at this guy being naked in my robe. I got up and took off my vest and bow-tie, hanging them up by my jacket in the closet. Hugh just watched me, amber eyes seeming to darken with whatever thoughts were in his mind. He smoothed back his short black hair and smirked, "You're still closeted, aren't you?" I froze and gulped quietly, "I'm not sure exactly--" He interrupted, "You prefer men, and that's why you can't look at me without going red." I felt myself getting annoyed but he wasn't wrong, "Once your clothes are dry you'll need to head out." "Struck a nerve, I take it?" "Oh piss off," I hissed, "yes I'm into men, but also women, it's complicated enough as it is." Hugh smirked and pulled me back towards the bed, "It doesn't have to be. Who are you trying to impress anyway?" I grimaced as he pulled me closer, forcing me to straddle him, "you must not be of nobility if you think it works like that." Hugh clicked his tongue, "I am but it never suited me. So I left." "You left? How?" I was astonished that anyone could just leave. Hugh smirked again and ran his fingers under my shirt and over my chest, "I just walked out. Never looked back." His fingers continued to travel my chest and I felt my face flush again, "I...I have a… g-girlfriend. " Hugh stared into my eyes, "Do you now? And how is that relationship fairing," he kissed my neck as I stayed frozen in place, "Does she know how you want to be touched? How you want to feel?" I felt myself fading into his touch. I didn't even remember falling asleep. I just awoke later on with a note from him promising I'd see him soon. I went to the mirror and saw no marks left on me where they'd be seen by others. I grabbed a quick shower, changed, and shoved Hugh's note in my pocket. When I finally made it down for breakfast, Evelyn was waiting for me. Her ginger hair tied up in an intricate bun with light makeup that made her green eyes pop. She was wearing a suit similar to mine but more fitting to her feminine figure. "You should know better than to keep me waiting, Lysle." She was grinning despite her words. "Apologies, it was a strange night and morning," I ordered my food then returned my attention to her now eager gaze. "You hooked up with someone, didn't you?" She whispered I took a drink of my water and tried to stay calm, "I...I think I did." She looked giddy as a school girl, "omg guy or girl?" I handed over the note I woke up to, "Guy, but I don't remember much." "Oh wow. And he seems to want more of you," she whispered. "I noticed that. I remember helping him to my room cuz he was drunk as hell and the staff wouldn't tell me his room number. I stripped him to his boxers and shoved him in a cold shower to sober up. We talked and he teased me for not fully being out… then I get pieces…" I shook my head as she listened. Evelyn, I should state, is a lesbian. She knew that I was into guys and girls when we were young. She and I have been close ever since. "He sounds interesting. I hope I can meet him to see what he's like." "Why? So you can give a stamp of approval?" I asked and she nodded. I sighed, "Did you forget about Theta?" "No I didn't but I also really don't trust her. She's a ho, Lysle. Hell you caught her in the act and forgave her." I chewed my lower lip, "It was only once and she was forced. That's not the same as--" Evelyn glared at that, "Theta lied. I don't have proof but I'm sure she lied." I sighed and she dropped it. Our food was brought out to us. As well as some coffee for me and tea for Evelyn. We switched to talking about the family gathering and how we were both dreading it. Neither of us were fully comfortable with being around our family for long periods. Most of them were geezers who only cared about the family name of "Castillo" and not the people who were burdened by it. We soon finished our food and got our bags onto the trolley we'd be talking on the last leg home. When our driver finally appeared, one last passenger boarded… it was Hugh. I felt my face immediately flush as images of last night crossed my mind. Evelyn grinned wide as she realized what was going on. Hugh made his way to the seat behind ours. He leaned in close and whispered, "Hello again, Master Castillo," right into my ear, causing me to turn more red. Evelyn chuckled and turned to face Hugh, "So you're the sly dog who stole off with my cousin." "I'm only a dog for him, though he stole off with me first," Hugh remarked "Only because the staff wouldn't tell me your room number." "They can't tell what they don't know," Hugh told me, "I was staying with my brother so it was under his name." Evelyn grinned, "So what made you get so horribly drunk then?" "The same idiot I was rooming with. He decided to bring a woman back to our room so I was kicked out for the night. What better way to enjoy it than with drinks and chatting up the bartender? She is a funny lady to talk to when the rush dies down." "Oh yes she's actually quite lovely," Evelyn said with a sly grin. "You didn't…" I watched that sly grin of hers grow, "my gods you did. When did you even have the time?" "Tut tut Lysle we're talking about you two and not me," she teased. "Lysle huh, nice name. Rolls off the tongue with ease." Hugh said and I just groaned. "Please stop… I can't take a whole trolley ride like this… I already have to return to that blasted estate today…" I said in defeat. Evelyn pat my head like I was a kid and I just shook my head. She then turned to Hugh with yet another sly grin. "How would you like to make a good bit of money?" She asked him. "I'm not really in need of money but I'm curious on what you have in mind," Hugh stated nonchalantly. "You could be dear Lysle's guard dog while he's at the estate. Simply keep him from trouble and I'll give you a grand payment in return," Evelyn stated calmly. "Eve --" I started. "I'll do it," Hugh answered with a smirk, "could be fun to knock some snobs down a peg or two," he winked at me and I just shook my head. "You two do what you want just let me be as invisible as possible there," I told them and shook my head. Eventually the trolley ride brought us to the outskirts of the estate. I hated this place. Evelyn and I both did. We walked in, Hugh right behind us, and were greeted by my parents. Not so warmly. "You sure took your time." My father stated coolly. "Not everyone prefers riding in a benz over the far calmer trolley rides." I quipped, "is my old room still vacant?" "Well dear Theta went up a bit ago but otherwise yes," my mother told me, "and who is your friend?" Hugh took her hand and kissed the top before flashing a grin, "The name's Hugh Donovan. I'm a friend of both Lysle and Evelyn. As well as a business partner. Though that's all I can say for now on that part." He let go of her hand and nodded to my father, "It's a pleasure to meet you both." "He'll be staying with us so we can get the business side of things done in time. Thankfully there will be plenty of free time here." Evelyn remarked as I made my way up the stairs. "Why was Theta here so early? She even told me to go ahead of her because she still had work to do today." I thought as I headed up to my room. As I walked past my brother Vincent's room I could hear arguing through his door. At first I hadn't planned to eavesdrop but then I heard Theta's voice. They were arguing about me… I swung the door open, sure enough my suspicions were correct, she was half-naked and covered in hickeys. While my brother wore that same sleazy smile he always wore when he had stolen something from me. "See, Theta? Now he knows and you can stop feeling so guilty." Vincent stated. I felt a hand come over my eyes and anger rise off the person behind me. "From this point, woman, don't come near Lysle ever again." It was Evelyn's voice but she wasn't who had covered my eyes. I was led away while I heard Evelyn slam the door in a frantic Theta's face. "I can walk on my own Hugh," I whispered and he relented, uncovering my eyes. I led the way down the hall and to my room. The room was fairly big with a king size bed, a wardrobe, a couch, and a desk and chair for any work I may need to do. I often did work when they summoned me to the estate. There was also a connected bathroom between my room and Evelyn's room. "I'll be just next door," Evelyn told Hugh before hugging me, "she's a ho, plain and simple, don't let her back in," with that she walked off to her room. "Make yourself at home. Please shut that door." I told Hugh as I set up my laptop on the desk. I kicked my suitcase over beside it. Hugh shut the door and set his own suitcase down by the wardrobe. I turned my chair to face him as he sat on the couch. He seemed calm but his features made him appear deep in thought. "Lysle --" Hugh started but I put a hand up to stop him. "You're my guard dog, right?" I asked him and he nodded, "Good. I'd like your help keeping those two away from me while I'm here. Evelyn is fine. My parents I have to tolerate. But those two… I don't want to see them." "Consider it done." Hugh walked over to me and pulled me to my feet, "Is that all you want from me?" "I don't know. That night… I hadn't planned for that." "I know." "And Evelyn seems interested in keeping you around." "I noticed." "But you're practically a stranger." "Then get to know me," Hugh told me and kissed my neck again, "and I'll get to know you." I gulped quietly as I felt him pull me close, "I'd like to know you a bit less physically Hugh." "I know, but let me give you this much first," Hugh whispered. His amber eyes stared into mine, captivating me, his ambitions clear in them. He kissed my lips just as he had the other night. I awoke after that.
