There was a coach there. I remember being on the coach with Olivia and everything being normal. Then, when everybody else went into the big hall for the party or disco or whatever, we went behind the scenes to see what we could find. I was sitting looking at a map of Italy tacked to an easel when it was somehow revealed to us that I had now been gifted with the second sight. I remember Olivia being pretty sulky and I imagined her mother would shout when she got home, disappointed that she had not been the one who 'discovered' the gift. We entered the hall where the party was being held and stayed close to the edges. The room was almost black, the light source impossible to deduce. The floor was covered in gym mats and the outer edges by the walls looked solidly black. We stayed just on the edge of this deep shadow and presently I heard running footsteps over the sound of the music. I sat down heavily on a mat. The footfalls continued to sound until, whoever they belonged to, they were right behind me. Then they stopped absolutely dead. I took a deep breath and turned. Standing behind me was a gorgeous little boy of about 2, with slicked down dark hair and a pouty mouth, wearing a little waistcoat and tie. He looked up at me somberly and he looked so sad that I picked him up and balanced him on my hip, even though I'd figured out already that he was dead and so I probably looked ridiculous since no one else could see this child. "That's my mummy." He whispered into my ear, pointing to a girl across the dancefloor. She had a huge grin and a tiny dress and looked too young to have a two year old, though I don't know how long it had been since he died. The girl was pretty and blonde and as I watched she chased a little group of kids across the dancefloor. I cuddled the boy closer and he sighed. I don't remember much after that but I do remember taking a big rag doll from the room with the easel, as it was clear to me that it was this doll that had given me my sight. I took it home sith me, and while I was busy drawing I heard a voice. "I'm not just a doll." She told me in a dreamy voice. "Oh really? So what are you?" I was nervous, perfectly aware this was a dream that could go to nightmare quicker than a wink. I looked up to find that the doll was standing impossibly on its cloth legs, looking down at me with the small smile stitched on its face. "I'm a God." It told me. I stared into its face for a minute and then smiled. "I'm gonna fuck you up." I told it, and lunged. I was bigger and stronger than it, it was only a doll, and I threw it down on my bed and sat on it.
