Apocalypse dream

I dreamed a flu or something wiped out humanity. I had to hide in a school. I locked the door so monsters wouldn’t get in. After a while, people I recognized came in a back way. The room I was in eventually became filled with people. We didn’t want to open the door because we didn’t know what was behind it. At some point someone opened the door. Everything beyond was empty. I walked a little forward but was blocked by other doors. Eventually I started exploring further and found people trying on outfits. They were military style outfits, but from the Middle Ages or earlier. I found some women getting dressed in Viking women regalia. I tried on a few pieces. I met some people I recognized then looked around. We were outside and everything had been destroyed. In the distance an explosion went off. I saw some scroungers run off. The people I was with tried to scare them off. I went back inside to look for more people. The place had gotten crowded. I walked through several doors and found some people eating. I sat down to eat but my dog was running around like crazy and I had to contain him. One of the people there offered me a slab of meat. I cut off a piece then left. I went to a different room to be alone. After a little bit, I looked around again. I found a room of officers but they were discussing something and looked like they didn’t want me there. I left and went through some doors. The place was completely empty. Even the room where I ate was empty. I kept going through doors, going deeper than I had before. It was creepy because everything was so empty. After several doors I ran into a family eating dinner. They welcomed me. I also saw several others who were helping serve.
