Beds and books

A couple are on their honeymoon in Japan. The bedroom has two double beds one is it western bed the other is a futon. Both of the beds are a little undersize so that they can fit in the room. The bride is in bed reading. The groom is absent. Then the focus switches to the bookcase. The books have been “scent marked“ which I think means somebody has pissed on them. This seems to be some uncertainty about whether or not they should be thrown out…
