I kissed Lorde and learned about power

we were at some sort of big university party and Lorde was there— not performing, just chilling, and so I worked up the courage to talk to her. she invited me to sit with her and we got drunk and talked about everything. we talked about her album Melodrama and what it means to be homemade dynamite. she showed me an adorable notebook that she keeps on her always to write down ideas for lyrics and poems. she said, You can call me Ellie. (her real name is Ella, but in the dream she said Ellie) and she told me to remember that “dynamite,” at its Greek root, isn’t about destruction, it’s power — and the verb dunamai simply means “I can.” I asked her, But you said “blow shit up”? and she said, There are so many ways for people to explode. somehow we were suddenly kissing. I don’t know who started it. I always thought she was straight (I’m a girl) and was worried that maybe she was way too drunk. but she seemed so calm. she seemed so full of power. and it felt like our kiss could somehow change the whole fucking world.
