SURVIVAL LESSON

I was sitting next to a guy, he was my best friend and also the person i like the most in the world. We grew up together, lived under the same roof. I remembered when i hold him tight in my arms and we laughed at a stupid joke. I remembered how he blushed when he said he liked me, i remembered his smile, his warmth. I remembered the happiest moments with him. We entered the same academy and were separated into different departments. Since then, I had not had the chance to see him again. The study was hard. We had to wake up very early in the morning and started our training. Then every months, the department held a test. And the test would start right at the moment we opened our eyes from a long night nap. When i woke up, it was dark and cold. I could only barely see using the dim light came from the torches on the wall. But I knew what to do since I had been through this too many times already. I walked out of the room that I was in, grabbed the pieces of wood laying on the ground and started a small camp fire. Then I searched around for some blankets, I brought them back and waited. After a short while, more people started to appear. They gathered in groups and started their own fire. Then i saw a girl, just like me, she was alone. I called out to her and threw her a blanket. She looked at me with her cold eyes of a predator, but then accepted the invitation without hesitation. My "group" had always changed depends on the people i met on the first day of the test and there were even times when i worked alone. Like every times, our final goal was to survive. Where we were was half way up the mountain and the snow was pilling up to our knees. It was difficult to scout around. The process was brutal and bloody, monsters and traps in that horrible weather. But i managed my way through. As long as i did not fail in any of these tests then there would be a chance of me graduating earlier than the original time required. And after that, i might get to meet him again. When the test ended, everything went dark and i woke up. We were all in a base located in the forest behind the academy. We had our breakfast there and received a day off from classes. Until I could meet him again, I would have to do my best.
