Family holiday

My aunt and cousin were coming over for a family holiday, I'm guessing Christmas because there was candy and candy canes. My dad had gotten the coolest plant. The plant was very sticky and didn't have roots, it could just stick to the wall. I'm not sure what the plant was supposed to eat, but we found that it would eat candy cane pieces. We would put a piece of candy cane near the plant and it would grab it and grow before our eyes. After we fed the plant for a bit, it would start to bloom these beautiful, colorful flowers, the flowers would be red, then blue, then the flowers would start to wilt and confetti like stuff would fall down and almost like red ribbon, then the plant was done. We were having a lot of fun with this plant. My aunt had brought her dog and we had a puppy, for some reason I was really afraid her dog would attack the puppy, even though it never tried, so I put the puppy in the other room to keep it safe. I'm not sure if we were going to move or just remodeling, but the bath tub was out if the bathroom and in the hallway and other stuff was torn down or moved, so I wasn't sure why we had hosted the party. I don't remember much else except that my aunt had this recipe that she always made, bit it would leave a horrible taste in my mouth along with a huge lump in my throat/chest. I woke up with this taste and it was really gross. I've had the taste before, but no idea where, or of just another dream.
