I was in a large auditorium for something like a TED talk. I'm aware that the audience contains some famous people and academics but I'm not sure I know who or if I care. It ends as a voice over a loud speaker announces deadly weather outside and instructs everyone to stay put. The vast majority obey and some begin to panic and attempt to crawl under their tiny seats. A few people, including my dream self, leave the auditorium and head for the entrance of the building which is entirely made of glass. I stare out over the horizon and everything is dark. Greys, browns, oranges, blacks. All dark except for three massive white tornados stretching infinitely high, following each other in procession. They're incredibly close, tearing up the far side of the very town we're in. but I watch silently, feeling very little, hardly even noticing the few people watching alongside me. One of whom is David Bowie. He's standing to my immediate left and as that begins to sink in, I start to make conversation with him. It's mostly small talk. I feel we both have a hunch the world is ending and there isn't much to say apart from just being kind to each other. I fear the moment may pass too quickly, so regardless of if I'd live to see tomorrow, I asked him for a picture of us together, and he was happy to oblige. He drew close to me with an arm around my shoulder and his cheek to mine as we both looked at my smartphone screen. My phone is new so I sheepishly apologized for having trouble finding and using the camera app. He said, "Don't worry. Take your time. I have all the time left in the world and I'm comfortable right here." He held me a little tighter, and sounded so genuine. This part of the dream felt like 30 long minutes of me just trying to navigate a digital space with the weight and warmth and sweet smell of David fucking Bowie at my side. I remember taking two photos, one of us just smiling and in the second he snuck in a kiss to my cheek. In the background of both, the tornados drew closer. Then I woke up. ;n;
