I was living in a broken run down world. It was the future. Some people were after me, I couldn't trust everyone. I was living with this girl but they got to her and she gave me away. I excepted into these tubes and got away but I missed her and she was taken away and tortured. I was at first just doing my part to get by. Hustling. I had thing thing going at the library. And I just got a flute and I was learning how to play it, it took quite a bit of fancy work to get a hold of it too. Sadly I couldn't play. In the course of my pursuit for money I stumbled onto a laboratory which needed volunteers for a case study. It was a very hush hush sort of thing. In this world, you didn't walk around in the streets in plain daylight, but I was apparently tough and did. I heard the unique advertisement that was created by putting a single word into everyday noises. As you walked along a certain path it illustrated the reason they wanted you, and it led me to a woman with a laptop. She offered me money in exchange for submitting myself to a scientific study. Be the guinea pig. Jobs like this were actually coveted in these hard times. I was eager to make money and did volunteer except about halfway into the thing I realized they weren't exactly ethical. There were other people at various stages in the study. I noticed other people getting upset at the unethical goings on and they'd mention they were going to quit, only the next day come back having forgotten the idea entirely. This brainwashing shit was annoying and finally I finally just quit. But they wouldn't let me quit. I wasn't allowed to leave, they made excuses and left me with one of the senior volunteers who ran my case study. I decided to leave anyway and headed for the door. He was a big guy, fat and unhealthy, and as he couldn't run he decided to attack me with a gun. It was reflex I tossed a knife in his gut, and then another. He fell and began to bleed out in the sterile white room. I don't know why I didn't leave immediately, either the door was locked or my sympathy was triggered. I called a friend to come get me. The fat guy was really scared and dying and sorry. I was a bit irritated, I told him he sacrificed his morals and it wasn't worth it. He agreed and blubbered on about never getting to taste strawberry jam. I sighed but went to the pantry and got a cracker with strawberry jam on it. Then I took it back to him. He was grateful and then he died. The company I was working for, the unethical experimenting on poor public one, didn't dispose of the body and they did follow me around for a long while. It was irritating so I finally snuck back into the lab with a couple scientists who knew about this stuff to find out what the fuss was about. Apparently in this day and age the human body was supposed to liquefy and melt after death but his didn't. It was as solid as the ones you see in the morgue in the real world. His legs had melted a bit, and his hands, but the rest was solid dead guy. He was monitored and they detected a low level hum of something still. They were fascinated with his dead yet perfect condition. It turns out they had found a trace of my blood in a shallow puncture in his shoulder. They had taken traces of it successfully and used it to reanimate his long dead wife. She was in another laboratory, there was a video feed, she was floating in a tank hooked up to machines, in perfect suit and heels and coiffed hair and 1950's style. The doctor I took with me was fascinated too. He was my friend and understood all of this stuff. His assistant Duckie was this hot female scientist specializing in blood. She managed to get another sample of my blood from the puncture wound on the corpse and when looked at with a microscope the DNA chain was hundreds time larger than humans. It looked like a tiny snake hanging there in the blood it was so large. I wasn't human, I was a vampire, and they were trying to use my blood to recreate life. And succeeding.
