Dream: Demonic Overload

So I don’t fully remember what happened but I do have a good amount of the dream in my memory. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The dream took place about 10 years into the future. Two years before this dream took place, some idiot opened up a hell gate and so demons were becoming far more bold and attacking/manipulating more people than usual. Myself, Jo, Seri, and Nicole had become kind of ‘hunters’ for them. We had built special safe-houses that the demons couldn’t get into, even when inside a vessel. It would essentially rip them from the vessel so that they couldn’t get further. My inner demon was one of the few exceptions to these safe houses. We don’t know why but she was never ripped from me when I stepped through the doors of the safe houses. So we just never told anyone there was a demon inside me. At least, no one outside the people who already knew. It also never hurt Jo. We never figured out why. So the year is now 2026 and our world was in a chaotic mess. Outside my quartet there were other teams of ‘hunters’ and ‘investigators’ and whatnot out there trying to stop the demons and close the hell gate. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Hey Marko, we have another mission for your team.” Alicks, one of our safe house ladies told me. She handed over a file and a cup of coffee as we sat down for the morning run. “A college campus huh?” I asked as I flipped through the file papers. “Here I was thinking this was a demon case and not just some poltergeist.” “Keep reading.” Alicks told me and took a sip of her own coffee. I looked through the rest of the papers and then saw the symbols that had been photographed.     “Looks like my kind of playground.” I heard my inner demon say almost playfully. I could hear the sadism in her voice though.     Alicks raised a brow at me and then leaned in, keeping her voice low, “You heard her didn’t you?”     I nodded and then kissed Alicks’ cheek. “No worries. We’ll be fine.”     She glared at me for a moment and then sighed. “Tell her that she better not let you die out there.”     “Trust me, she won’t let that happen.” I told her with a grin. “She needs my body after all.”     I could hear my demon click her tongue in my head. She was annoyed by both that factor and my girlfriend’s remark. “I’ll go round up the team and meet you back here Alicks. Think you can get a few more cups of coffee ready?” I suggested with an awkward smile on my face. I still wasn’t used to us being together despite it being almost a year by this point.     “Yeah, just get going already. You have a team to find and no one’s easy to find in this place. Except you.” Alicks told me with her own smile before heading back to the coffeepot with the file in hand. I nodded and headed off through the halls of the safe house. This one was one of the bigger safe houses. It was underground and it had MANY halls and rooms. Like a giant labyrinth or something. “Common room, common room, common room.” I whispered as I followed the map as best as I could. “I swear, you get lost every time you go looking for something.” I heard Nicole say from behind me. I grinned as I looked back and saw her stepping out of her room she shared with her husband and son. She smirked at me. “So what’s the job? Or did you misplace the tea-maker again?” Nicole teased me.     I rolled my eyes. You misplace the teapot and call it a ‘tea-maker’ one time and everyone decides to tease you about it forever. “We have a job. Do you know where Jo and Seri went off to?” “Same place you’re headed. The common room. I think they were having a sparring match or something. You’ve been avoiding those soooooo they took over that class.” Nicole said as she led the way, a yawn escaping her lips in the process. “Alicks is fixing up coffee for us. Don’t worry.” I told her as we headed that way. The common room was basically the size of a gym. One half was used for sparring and training of any newer ‘hunters’ or ‘investigators’ and the other half was used for relaxation. Playing video games, air hockey, watching tv, etc. “Thank the great Alicks. See I knew you two would be perfect. You do the grunt work out in the field and she gives you the life nectar you need to do said grunt work.” Nicole said with a laugh. She was allowed bragging rights, she hooked us up. “Yeah. She’s great. Let’s just hope the other half of our team isn’t killing the new recruits.” I said with a laugh. “Nah. Mutilate and possibly do severe damage, totally. Kill? Nope. That’s left to the professionals.” Nicole joked. We opened up the door to the common room just for one of the new recruits to land on his ass in front of us. He was pretty beat up and out of breath. “This is supposed to be training not a death camp.” The guy said. I assumed him to be probably 19. “Trust me, this is training. Go out in the field and you’ll see far worse. They’ll rip you apart limb from limb. Blow up your partner right next to you and laugh at it as if it were nothing more than mere entertainment. They’ll show no remorse to you or your allies. If you get hurt so bad that you can’t stand, guess what, you’ll be dead in seconds if your teammates can’t keep them back. What she just did to you is nothing more than child’s play.” I growled, my eyes turning an almost yellow as I stared the young man down. “Easy Marko. He’s just a kid.” Jo told me as she walked over. She was right too but it still pissed me off when the punks acted like that. “She’s right kid. I went easy on you. Those demons and monsters that we hunt and even kill when necessary….they won’t be so nice.” Seri said as I took a breath to calm and steady myself. Jo looked to the group and waved over one of the elder recruits. He’d been helping with the training sessions the past couple months. “Take over. From the looks of it, we’ve got a job.” “Yes ma’am.” The recruit said and got the punk from before to return to his position in the group. Seri and Jo walked out of the common room and the four of us headed back to the office. I sat in my seat as my foot tapped against the floor. I couldn’t help it. I was usually good at keeping my darker side locked away but that kid had stirred it. “What’s wrong? Demon bite your tongue?” I heard her say in my head. It took everything not to retort aloud. Alicks had shut and locked the office door so even though we’d hear what was happening outside, the others couldn’t hear us inside. “You can let her speak if you want to.” Alicks told me but I shook my head. “Letting her speak isn’t exactly wise. She’s a snarky brat with a foul mouth who only speaks up when adding commentary.” I replied with a sigh. “Awwww you’re far too kind.” she said in my mind, causing me to roll my eyes. “So this case is dealing with demons and poltergeists?” Jo asked as she flipped through the files. I put on my glasses and turned on the projector screen that was connected to the laptop in the room. “From what Alicks told me and the bit in that file, yeah it seems to be that way. This is Calbrook University, a college that had just been built within the last five years. It didn’t last long after the outbreak though. Being up in the mountains it was the perfect spot for demons to make a home base of sorts. Which is part of why we need to get up there and soon.” “Whoa whoa whoa!” Nicole said and pulled our attention. “Hunting them in small groups and the individual demon is one thing but this? That’s suicidal!” “Tell her.” I heard my demon speak. I sighed and looked to her. “You’ll be driving. Seri will be out front with you. Jo and I will be the ones going in. Jo has great control over her demonic side, plus with that angelic side she has double the power. She can also keep me in check if my other self gets too….in to it.” (Note: Jo is a nephilim of angel/demon DNA) “Even though Seri and I both…” Nicole started. “Even though you both have angelic sides, you’ll be needed up front. There will be stragglers and those too cowardly to face them once they unleash those sides. Take them out and keep up a barrier so they can’t get off of the mountain.” Alicks explained to her. “What will you be doing?” Seri asked Alicks. “I’ll be gathering what research I can while you guys are on the road headed there. I’ll send anything and everything that I find out straight to your phones.” Alicks explained, “I’ve also gotten the car ready with the necessary supplies. You can thank me by coming back alive.” She then turned her gaze on me, “All of you.” I nodded at that and felt my inner demon snicker. She hated being told what to do after all. We had gotten inside the building but, of course, they were already waiting for us. Jo had let her hellhound side loose. Blood was painting the walls of this place at this point. We knew exercising the demons here would be a ridiculous waste of time. These vessels...the people in them were already dead. All we could do was put them out of their misery. So we did. “Hello dearies, would you like to play a game.” my demon spoke through me. Her voice was sickeningly sweet as she walked through the halls towards any and all demons that came her way. Jo had her (our) back as she killed off any of the demons coming our way. My demon just clucked her tongue and grinned. She raised her hand at one and smiled as it exploded in front of her, blood and guts spraying over the place. I cringed inside myself. She just clucked her tongue again. “If you’re gonna let me out, at least enjoy it a little too.” she grumbled as she made two demons slit each other’s throats and watched them fall to the ground. Jo was taking her bone tail and slicing it across the stomachs and kneecaps of demons near us. Her claws shredding others to bits. My stomach churned despite how much my demon was enjoying herself. How much she enjoyed watching Jo add to the carnage. “Oh come now, even the youngling is enjoying herself.” my demon scolded. “I don’t think Jo herself really is. Just the demon side.” i told her in our shared mind. Time passed. One of the bigger demons had come after us. Jo and I had just barely killed them but our demonic selves were attempting to keep hold. We made it back to the car with Seri driving us back to base. Nicole was in the back forcing shackles on me, having already put them on Jo. They were a special kind created specifically to keep demons at bay. “Nicole…” I whispered, not able to see because my demonic self was blindfolded and without having full control back...I was essentially in darkness. “Nicole I can’t see anyone…” “It’ll be fine. We’ll be back to base soon enough.” Nicole told me. We were in the car for hours. Jo and I both had fallen unconscious due to the strain of our demonic selves attempting to get out and the shackles keeping them under the surface. When we awoke we had been helped out of the car and down the halls of the base towards the main office. Jo was let out of her shackles first. I guess they didn’t fear her losing control as much as they feared me losing it. I didn’t blame them. I still struggled with keeping her under the surface, even after all these years. “We’ll be removing the blindfold now.” Nicole told me. When I opened my eyes I could see Jo, blood staining her hands and clothes, standing just behind Nicole. Off to the side was Seri with an iron bat in case one of us lost control. Alicks was behind her. She was whispering a protection charm over the room so that we couldn’t get out if one of us did lose control. “Now for the shackles.” Nicole said and bent down towards them. Something didn’t feel right. “That might not be so wise, dearie.” I heard a sickeningly sweet voice say as the shackles loosened around my wrists but didn’t release from them. The voice had come from my demon, using my lips. Cuts began to form on Nicole’s arms. Some deeper than others. “Nicole!” I shrieked as she scurried away from me to keep from being in range. She was bleeding bad. Way too much too fast. Jo growled at Seri to swing the bat but Seri wouldn’t move. She was petrified. Then I saw why. I could just barely glimpse my own reflection. The expression I was making was the most twisted and sadistic expression I’d ever seen. It was pure bloodlust. Evil and violence showing brightly in those eyes. My eyes...yet her eyes. Jo took the bat as I looked to Nicole. Wishing I could control it. Make the bleeding stop. She swung the bat to my head, knocking me unconscious. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I awoke after that. I can only pray that the Nicole in my dream actually made it.
