My daughter falls and is badly hurt; Trigger warning for serious child injury

I’m in a starbucks with Ruby. She wants to ride on my back, but while I’m trying to help her up, she suddenly flails backwards and hits her head on the floor. She stops moving and isn’t unconscious, but isn’t crying. I immediately kneel and shout her name. Someone calls 911. An ambulance arrives quickly; her skull is fractured and dented. They load her into the ambulance and tell me to sit with her. I wake up as we’re heading to the hospital.
