I Adore You

I am walking home with Karla after school and we’re talking about what we are going to be doing for Christmas break. I tell her that my parents want to go out in the middle of nowhere in the woods. I ask her to come over for a bit and she does. When we get to the Moonbeam house, the living room is so full of Christmas presents that it’s ridiculous. I talk to mom and she says we are going to be leaving in morning. This is a surprise because I thought we were going to be leaving right away. Out at resort, it’s very remote and we get snowed in. Then when the snow melts, it causes floods. In the water there are aligators everywhere. Locals teach me how to keep from getting bit and tricks to get away from the gators. I learn how to kill them as well. We gather with the townspeople in streets and hunt the gators for hours until all are dead. I then turn and speak to someone and I get grabbed by the bite of a gators jaws on my left shin. I jerk awake as, at that exact same moment, Luna pats at my left shin with her paw. I almost kicked her, but managed to catch myself. I woke up to the song “My Eyes Adore You” by Frankie Valli playing in my head.
