Lucidity from reality checks

So this dream came about after about 10 days of scheduled reality checks that had to do with looking at my hands and counting my fingers. I remember in the dream that I was in my room. My mom was having a party with all her friends over. My mom and all her friends were on the front porch of my house & the way my house is set up, the windows to my room are on the front porch of the house. Her and her friends came to my window and were trying to get me to come out and party with them, they wouldn't leave me alone about it, even though I was making it clear I wanted to be left alone. Out of the voices outside my window I heard a familiar family friend that asked if he could come in my room to talk to me. I said sure and helped him through my window. His name was pat and was one of the few friends of my moms that was always really nice to me. I remember saying "it's been so long how have you been?" I then put out my hand to shake hands with him. While we were shaking hands I remember looking down at his hand. The best way I could describe how his hand looked was that it looked like smeagles hand from lord of the rings but had claw like finger nails. When I saw this I said to myself "wtf...? Am i... dreaming?" As soon as I said this to myself, everything got dark and fuzzy around me and I woke up. Even though the actually reality check didn't make me lucid technically, me being aware of hands while dreaming is what triggered my lucidity.
