We were on some sort of trip for choir, or maybe it was theatre. But we were planning some sort of showcase. The song that was sang at the showcase thing every single year was “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” by Taylor Swift. Donovan, this kid who’s kind of a show off, was trying to figure out the chords to the song that was being performed at the showcase. He had written down F#m. The. Judah said, “Ew. Who uses sharps?” I was sitting next to him, and I was like, “A lot of people.” Donovan’s chords, though were, like, wrong. So I told him it was C#m, G, D, Em7. He then was like, “Why C#m?” I knew the chord wasn’t C#m. It just came out of my mouth. So I said, “Whoops. I meant Cadd9.” What was really embarrassing was that the song for the showcase this time wasn’t “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” It was “bellyache” by Billie Eilish, so now I just looked stupid. I remember that the names for what students would be playing which instruments and singing and stuff were drawn. People who couldn’t even play guitar or piano got chosen to play guitar and piano. Hailey May was chosen to sing. Donovan played the song and asked her to sing, and it was okay. But later, she sang it again and it wasn’t that bad. Then we all went outside, and I asked my friend Emily if she’s ever used the home button on her iPhone XR (which in real life doesn’t have a home button, but it did in the dream). She said yes. Then Caroline came up to us.
