Review and cupcakes

I’m teaching a class, and it’s time to review. A girl is really annoyed with me. Well, not just me. She looks at HL and says, “It would be great if you didn’t talk so damn much. I need to learn this and you never stop having conversations.” She glances back at me. He looks guilty. I feel bad for her. I review. Class is almost over and people are putting things away. I go up to her and address the fact that she wasn’t doing her part. She wasn’t engaged and missed several opportunities. I point out that HL didn’t have anything to do with that. They leave, I wish them good luck on the final. I walk out the door and note I’m in a portable. There is another portable. It’s a nice sunny day and my colleagues want to figure out in which portable we will eat. Mine is cool. We decide to eat outside. Sarah asks about the celebration cupcakes. She thought her friend had missed out on that. “No, that’s today”. She will come by later. We have chocolate and vanilla cupcakes to celebrate a new teacher in our department.
