Gunboat: The Movie

I was a time traveller who was visiting America in the late 1800s on a massive houseboat. It was literally just a bunch of floating houses. Everyone on the boat was assigned the same puzzle/riddle which they had to solve. It was very complicated and detailed and most people just ignored it but I, as soon as I read it, began searching and investigating nearby platforms. Upon stepping outside, I saw it was day. Everything was a mixture of wood and bamboo floating together, bound by sturdy rope. Outside of my room was an open area between me and the room across from me with a little opening into the water below in the platforms in the centre. I was at the very front (or back, I'm not sure) of the "boat" so I walked right onto what seemed to be some sort of hull. It was a flat open area with two massive cylindrical clumps of bamboo strapped to the sides which I assumed were for floatation purposes. The whole thing was roped to an 1800s styled stoney dock. [GAP IN MEMORY] There was a shot of a group of heavily armoured police men with riot shields rushing down a roadway. [GAP IN MEMORY] It was dark now, and I was standing on someone else's balcony while looking around. Looking down, the drop was straight into the wavy black water below. I couldn't be bothered getting down by legitimate means so I thought it would be fun to jump into the water and swim for a bit. So I vaulted what little fence there was and prepared for impact. Upon hitting the water, I realised 2 things: 1. The water was very cold. 2. My phone was in my pocket. So I immediately scrambled onto the lower platform and rushed to my room, trying not to activate my phone in away in the process as that would've fried it. I started whacking my phone onto the sheets of my bed, trying to get the water out. I went on doing this for a good few minutes and, when I was done, my phone operated without error. [GAP IN MEMORY] I then realised the solution to the puzzle by putting things I had discovered today together so I told someone to place 2 stones in the storage compartment. [GAP IN MEMORY] The next night, I picked up my gun and headed to the storage platform which was connected to the dock. I could hear a large group of footsteps from the open door leading outside getting closer. I ignored it and fiddled with the 2 barrels I told the person to put the stones inside of and did whatever it was I was meant to do. That was until I turned to see one of the armoured police men. He saw the gun I was holding and instinctively shot me dead. [GAP IN MEMORY] A panning shot of a hospital with a bunch of gruesomely malformed bodies ridden with bullets. The camera eventually reached mine and zoomed in. [GAP IN MEMORY] I respawned back when I was about to enter the storage room. This time leaving my gun. When I got there, I immediately shut the door and got to work on the barrels. The footsteps passed by the room and I successfully did whatever it was I was doing. [GAP IN MEMORY] I was now in a large, ornate room with a golden yellow theme. It was very high roofed but the central area was proportionally small and square with 4 lower-roofed corridors branching out of it. The room was filled with round upper-class men in black suits with top-hats. In centre was the then president of the United States of America himself and I having a conversation. I told him I was from the future and told him what things were like then. Specifically regarding gun laws. [GAP IN MEMORY] The dream ended with a documentary about gun safety and gun laws in America narrated by me. In the background there were gruesomely unrealistic videos of people firing guns into the distance and then somehow having their head blown off.
