D&d beyond character brainstorm

I was with the people in critical role and we were going to play a game of d&d and they wanted me to make a new character. I decided my character would be a skilled economic. I said I would get my d&d books to read and create my character but they decide I shouldn't do that and we all will share the books we already had. They gave me a little box that contained some dice, purple figurines and purple cards with the silhouette of humanoids.
